Egad! An update!

Yeah, I had a feeling this blog would fester. It probably has a lot to do with the fact that I'm working with dial-up, on an iBook that was dug up in Druid Hill along with the remains of an unidentified ape-man.

I got engaged last week. Will, who works at the Farmers Market in downtown Baltimore on Sundays, proposed next to the pickle stand. It was very romantic in an awkward, fumbling kind of way, which I'm sure is less-than-desirable to some people, but is pretty much just how I like it. I am almost ashamed by how much I like my ring. I have caught myself holding out my hand, turning it this-way-and-that, staring at this (gorgeous) hunk of filigree and carbon like I'm freakin' Liz Taylor or something.

I spent the weekend in south Jersey with Lisa Wise and JennVerb, and today we took the train to Philly and visited the Mütter Museum. Regretfully, I spent so much time on the upper floor gazing in fascinated horror at primitive speculums that I missed most of the lower level, which is where you can find the Shai-Hulud-like 40-pound colon. (Trust me, it is way more gross and awesome than I can possibly describe here.) If you'd like a fairly accurate and entertaining narrative on some things you can see at the Mütter Museum, check out this website: http://www.diehippiedie.com/screwball//mutter2.html.
